I- Polhill Bank nature reserve

1 sound

Polhill Bank is owned and managed by Kent Wildlife Trust. It covers around four hectares of chalk grassland, which is fantastic habitat for a huge variety of flowers, insects and birds. It is a good place to see butterflies, including the rare grizzled skipper and dingy skipper. The rufous grasshopper is also found here. The scrub provides a valuable habitat for many birds, including blackcap and willow warbler. One of the more unusual plants here is common dodder, which can be found in great abundance in some years growing as a parasite on rock-rose.
