Surrounded by vacant land and on the east bordered by a concrete wall that is the backside of the social housing complex, the railway station with its platforms creates an eerie sound sphere. Its underperforming contributes to its eeriness as well. The railway platforms were for a long time the scene for illegal activities such as drug trafficking and vandalism. As a result, both police and STIB invested in volumetric surveillance of the space. Following the Paris and Brussels attacks, soldiers patrolled inside and outside the railway station.
