Chapter 08: Continuous Cities 02

1 sound

In this city, where buildings overflow the horizon in dense thickets, you are struck with the strangeness that you do not remember the shape of the house you used to live in.

The house has become a foreign city and you can only recall the low structure with a dormer where it used to sit, or the contour of the outside yard, or an alley at the back which seemed just barely big enough for a small bicycle.

It may have been on the outskirts of the city, or it may have been within the concrete and glass walls of a fashionable building with marbled floors and a balcony overlooking a garden of green grass and blooming flowers.

These words are closer to your memory than the facts, and the memories themselves seem distant, foreign places of a past you have not lived in.
