In that city where it meets the sea, faith and lust coexist, crushing the foolish belief of parents and teachers, alike, of common sense and innocent desire.

Lust has inexplicable confidence in making the hidden inaccessible to observation. Faith reveals only the obvious truth to faith; Faith creates an invisible by making the visible apparent.

Though the lovers squirm on their bed, searching the hopeless darkness, passion makes them hungry, longing for reality, a reality capable of becoming pleasurable. Only when the lovers overcome lust and beheld their desire laid bare before them, confident of the strength and ability of lust to consume them, destined to die, will their desire begin to become compassionate and therefore sweet.
