On your right is the family plot of the Walkden family, commemorating two fallen service men, one from each of the world wars. The family, who had built Lagos house on Poppythorn Lane, had also recast 6 of the bells in the church tower as a thanksgiving for peace. Close by, are the family plots of the Mather family. Sir William Mather was a liberal M.P. and owned the Mather and Platt's Engineering firm. William placed his daughter Grace to rest here, after a horse riding accident in Fontainebleau in France. A lovely pome runs around the plinth of her monument. Continue towards the bench with thoughts of a well earnt rest.
