In that city at that time, your pursuit of desire would have to begin in the field, not the sanctum. When you had forgotten how to feel, taken all your desires away, you had nothing to recall—not thought, not sentiment, not spontaneity, not even distance.

But who was lost, in that age?

When it came for you to feel desire, then you could not resist. And when desire came, that same potency that that city lost would fall upon you as well.

Thus, your pathway would not only take you to new landscapes, new horizons, but to new heights. As long as you had thought sufficiently deeply about it—as long as you had carefully taken your needs from existence—that desire, too, would grow stronger within you.
