The Veteran Trees

When you enter the woodland and you will see lots of beautiful trees including our veteran oaks, ash and sweet chestnut trees which are all over 200 years old. Old trees have a wide tree trunk. Try giving a tree a gentle hug - if you can’t reach your arms around the back of it, it’s one of our veterans. But be careful not to damage their bark or roots. These trees can live for 100’s of years more with our care and protection, that’s why we’ve put hedges of dead wood around some of them.
