Mariner is played by Deity Dionysus

The house described in this scene is located at 54 Essex St. It was built circa 1805 as the shop of shipmaster (meaning Captain) Daniel Sage. Sage came to Salem in the 1780s from Greenock, Scotland (his home is located next to the shop, at 52 Essex St., purchased in 1800) and made a life for himself as a mariner. He would later become a member of the East India Marine Society, and the Essex Lodge of Masons. The Derby St. neighborhood saw many mariners, workers, and people who made a life on the waterfront build homes around where you now stand.
