Musée Bruck

Installé au cœur de la ville, au 225 rue Principale, le Musée Bruck occupe une remarquable maison de style Second Empire, jadis le clubhouse des dirigeants de la filature Bruck Silk Mills. Gardien de la mémoire industrielle et artistique de Cowansville, il abrite la collection Bruck-Lee et raconte l'âge d'or de cette usine qui tissa la première verge de soie au Canada. La composition est née à l'intérieur même du musée, à partir de sons captés au fil d'une visite. Pas de reconstitution ici : ce sont les bruits réels du lieu, presque tels quels, simplement révélés par de petites transformations qui en accentuent la musicalité. Le grincement d'un plancher, l'écho d'une salle, le murmure d'une présence, le silence qui entoure les œuvres : autant de matières sonores qui font entendre le musée comme un instrument, et l'écoute comme une seconde visite.

Set in the heart of town at 225 Principale Street, the Bruck Museum occupies a remarkable Second Empire house, once the clubhouse of the executives of the Bruck Silk Mills. Keeper of Cowansville's industrial and artistic memory, it holds the Bruck-Lee collection and tells the story of the golden age of the mill that wove the first yard of silk in Canada. The composition was born inside the museum itself, from sounds captured over the course of a visit. There is no reconstruction here: these are the real sounds of the place, almost untouched, simply revealed through small transformations that bring out their musicality. The creak of a floorboard, the echo of a room, the murmur of a presence, the silence surrounding the artworks: so many sonic materials that let you hear the museum as an instrument, and listening as a second visit.
