DES304 Task 1 'Call of The Bird' by Danielle Ramsay

1 sound

Call of The Bird Location: Baringa, Queensland Suitability: Suitable for all ages and mobilities Duration: 50 Seconds

Acknowledgement: We acknowledge the traditional land owners, the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi people, whose lands stretched from Pine River in the south to the Burrum River in the north, whose land this sound walk is located and recorded on.

Call of The Bird is a mobility-accessible sound experience located further along the walkway as it begins to curve downhill.

The sounds featured in this clip are predominantly bird sounds, mixed with some local background ambient sounds. Most of the bird sounds have been captured in the Baringa area, with some additional bird calls recorded on location at the Maroochy Botanic Gardens. You can hear some of the louder cries, captured from birds located on the pond where you are standing.

The image accompanying this sound features a manipulated photographic image composition. The background is a photo I took of the pond located beside this soundwalk. It has a blue/green duo-tone filter applied. Superimposed over this is a repetitive cut-out image of a Magpie Lark, commonly known as a Peewee Bird. There are many calls from the Magpie Lark featured within this sound walk. This image has been manipulated with a yellow/orange duo-tone filter applied.

The background image is my own and the cutout image of the Magpie Lark is a Canva stock image.
