The Lighthouse by Richard Carr, Sasha Terfous & Basciville

1 sound

Originally commissioned by Dani Gill for The Lighthouse Project Ireland, this collaborative and site-adaptive work was developed during a short working period at Hook Lighthouse where the artists responded to the coastline of Hook head in Co. Wexford. A site first developed by Welsh Pilgrim, St. Dubhán, later by William Marshall (1st Earl of Pembroke), and an important navigational point illuminating various historical relationships between Ireland and the UK. The resulting work aims to give a voice to the landscape, exploring these shared relationships between two complex landmasses who are ultimately married by the sea.
