Joseph Graydon (b.1997) is a composer from south wales currently studying in the Royal Academy of Music with Edmund Finnis. About the tree:
A tough and resilient tree much planted in Victorian London for its ability to cope with high levels of pollution. Today, the fine hairs on their leaves capture tons of the city's vehicle exhaust particulates, and the tree is set to serve us well into the future as it has proven drought resistance, and, at maturity its huge canopy provides glorious shade.
About the composition:
Whilst working on the music for these trees, I was drawn to the varying densities within the canopies. I aimed to create different versions focusing on the individual densities of the trees, and for the music to work in a collage like way. Mirroring the overlapping canopies and the close proximity of many of the London Planes.
