The butterflies hatch in my belly,
A swarm of excitement with wings,
A flock of different explosions fills the streets,
Dive-bombing gold, silver, and red
My mom,
My dad,
My cousins,
My brother and I gather around the table to make dumplings,
My grandpa hunched over the table, inspecting our culinary skills like a detective with bad eyesight
My brother and I compete to see who can fold without fissures
Some shaped like dinosaurs,
Others like seashells
Oh, how I wish I could turn back time
Spend one more New Year with my grandma and grandpa,
One more New Year with butterflies in my stomach,
One more New Year gazing at the bird-like fireworks,
Wishing upon one thousand stars,
Oh, how I miss…
Sneaking out of our rooms as the clock strikes midnight,
Watching the fireworks atop pillows on the terrace,
Oh, how I wish I could turn back time…
730 days,
That is how long it has been since my time in Beijing
As I walk through these trails, I notice the beauty of every moment, My experience may change, From Beijing to Boston, But my memories last a lifetime…
