It wasn't long before the villagers noticed a change. The once-gentle Leith flowed with a ferocity that belied its nature, its waters darkening, swirling with an intensity that spoke of anger. The fish that once teemed in its depths vanished, and the trees along its banks withered.

Then, on a night when the moon hung heavy and low, casting silvered shadows through the village, calamity struck. The waters rose in a furious torrent, sweeping away the foundations of Ainsley’s cherished mill, leaving naught but rubble in their wake.
