The Stove Network

The Stove Network is a community-led arts collective based in Dumfries & Galloway, dedicated to creativity as a tool for connection, exploration, and change. Through immersive sound-walks and audio experiences, we invite listeners to step into the layered histories, voices, and landscapes that shape our region.

From the bustling heart of Dumfries to the wild edges of the Solway, our sound-based projects reimagine place through storytelling, music, and field recordings. Each journey reveals hidden narratives—past, present, and imagined—crafted in collaboration with local communities, artists, and historians.

Whether it’s the echoes of industry along the River Nith, the call of migrating geese over Caerlaverock, or the untold tales of fairgrounds and footpaths, our work transforms everyday spaces into portals of discovery. Join us as we tune into the sounds of place, uncovering the voices that make Dumfries & Galloway a living, breathing story.

Site & Sound

A collection of immersive tales created by young writers from the Creative Toolbox programme, in collaboration with Sonic Labs. Creative Toolbox is a vibrant creative wellbeing initiative for young people aged 11–18 in Dumfries & Galloway, designed to build confidence, nurture social connections, spark creativity, and support mental wellbeing. These stories were developed as part of Creative Caerlaverock—an arts and community project that invited creative responses and public engagement inspired by the rich heritage and imagined futures of Caerlaverock Castle. Delivered by The Stove Network in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland.
