Moor to Sea Soundwalk through The Orchard at Lupton

Music provides transferable and therapeutic effects for young people in many ways. Alongside it providing an access point for engagement, it can provide a way to have a conversation for those that do not use language or talking as a primary means of communication. This residency at The Orchard, Lupton used music as a way to break down barriers; focusing on connecting people to community and environment, developing empowering relationships with Young People in order to work together to enable access for all.

Cabbage Rebellion

Cabbage Rebellion

Did you know that the centre of Paignton used to be cabbage fields? Doorstep Youth Theatre - an ensemble of young people aged 11 - 20 - is exploring the history of protest and rebellion in Torbay and devising an original musical production. The work is happening via digital exchange, including heritage research, scriptwriting, songwriting, design and some subversive cabbage growing. Placing current climate protests into a long-term heritage context, this project is making historical patterns of protest in South Devon and Torbay more visible. https://www.cabbagerebellion.co.uk

Audio 3: Part 1 On The Tip of My Tongue

Audio 3: Part 1 On The Tip of My Tongue

Part of the Spaces to Speak project, ‘On the Tip of My Tongue’ (commissioned by talking on corners), is cultural futurist Lauren Craig’s creative response to five interviews between Lorna Rose and global majority creatives in Plymouth. Craig created public sound art in the form of spatial audio collage encompassing the voices from the interviews, for the people of Plymouth to embody whilst exploring geolocated landscapes. The audio collages are a way for the creatives’ voices to be heard within central Plymouth, reflecting the energy of their practices and the plurality of their experiences. You are invited to take a self-directed journey around parts of Plymouth, slow listening by engaging in your familiar surroundings through a different lens. This is 1 of 5 interviews available on Echoes. We advise downloading the audio collages onto your smartphone to listen to them (streaming the walk uses a LOT of phone data).
