Immersive Networks

A demonstrator of higher order ambisonics streaming over 5G for Brighton Dome and Digital Catapult's Heritage XR programme, this walk tells the story of three moments in the history of Brighton Dome and Corn Exchange.

There are audio scenes attached to a series of objects in the bar, the foyer and the Corn Exchange. Each one will be triggered when you are close to the object.

Sit or stand with each of the objects. Close your eyes for a few seconds when each scene starts, and imagine yourself in a different time. After meeting the weaver, go and sit on the quakers bench, and hear tributes to John Grover, who was buried here in 1752.

When the Weaver promts you, it's time to find the next scene. The second scene is the Corn Exchange Origin Rave in 1994. Follow the flyers to listen in on the queue, then go through the doors to the corn exchange to the rave itself.

After the rave, make your way through the tunnel and find the roller skates. In 1910, two Suffragettes used rollerskating at the Corn Exchange to sneak into the organ in the Dome with the intention of disrupting the prime minister's speech.
