“Leiden (Un)Heard – Rehearing the City Center” is a soundwalk that invites you to listen to Leiden through different “ears,” using recording techniques to offer new perspectives on known places or to listen in on spaces that usually go unheard.
What sounds can both humans and mice hear in Central Station? How does a bridge sound through the vibrations of its metal beams? What does the outside world sound like through an antennae tuned into electromagnetic waves or a sensitive seismic microphone picking up the vibrations of the earth? How does a weaver working on a 200 year old loom or a scholar turning the pages of a 400 year old book sound? This soundwalk will give your ears a listen into Leiden’s sonic secrets.
