University of Dallas Official Tour

The University of Dallas is a private, Catholic, liberal arts school founded in 1956. UD has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,500 students. There are around 1,100 graduate students.

Our campus occupies around 200 acres located in Irving, TX, a suburb only 15 minutes away from the city of Dallas and 30 minutes outside Ft. Worth

Cardinal Farrell Hall is our newest building. It opened in 2017. It contains administrative offices, student services and classrooms. It is designed with LEED standards (Leadership in Energy & Environment Design).

First floor of CFH is a one-stop shop for students where most of student needs are centralized in one place - registrar, financial aid, business office, and Human Resources are all conveniently located in a mall like fashion.

The first floor also includes our seal. The seal of the University of Dallas is emblematic of the ideals to which the University is dedicated. For example, the decorative outer circle bears the foundation date of the University and the motto, “Veritatem, Justitiam Diligite.” The quotation, taken from Zacharias VIII, 19, “Love Truth and Justice,” or more freely translated, “Through Truth, Seek Ye Justice,” emphasizes the University’s purpose of advancing the search for truth and encouraging the pursuit of good.

Head towards the second floor to see what a typical classroom looks like at UD. Your average class will be around 19 students, with a student to faculty ratio of 11:1

The Lady of Our Guadalupe was a gift of the University of Dallas Alumni, has been in the making since the Class of 1997. She is a 6ft, bronze statue and was designed by Jaime Dominguez.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of the Americas and has a special place in our hearts.

Many students find this a nice quiet space to stop and pray.

The Cappuccino Bar: The Capp Bar opened in 1982 by Pete Blute and Pat Daly, to capture the Italian spirit during a Godfather-themes Charity Week and to remind people of their semester in Rome.

The UD Capp Bar has been serving espresso drinks longer than Starbucks. Students can even get a work study job at the Capp Bar!

UD actually runs two Capp Bars: one here in Irving and one on the Rome Campus.

Rome Photos: Take a look at life in Rome! You'll see photos of our "Due Santi" campus, formally known as the Eugene Constantin Rome Campus, which was built in 1994 to serve as the permanent home of the University of Dallas Rome Program which began in 1970. This sister campus can hold just over 120 students every semester and was renovated last year.

Around 85% of UD students spend some time on the Rome campus – either a semester or summer program. Campus is affectionately called “Due Santi” because the area it is in is said to have been a stop for Sts. Peter and Paul during their travels.

Haggar Foyer: Haggar named after J. M. Haggar (major donor of University). During the school year there are a ton banners in the foyer.

UD offers a lot of clubs and organizations for students to join. Some of most popular clubs and organizations include Student Government, Campus Activities Board (CAB), Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Crusaders for Life

Located in Haggar Campus Ministry, Health clinic, counselors, post office, cafeteria, and Student Affairs

Built in 1966, a gift from the Blakely-Braniff Foundation in memory of the founder of Braniff International Airways, which operated from 1928 to 1982. Home to the Cowan-Blakley Memorial Library. Library contains more than 300,000 volumes, 115 databases, 84,000 online publications. Hosts interlibrary loan through the Tipasa Program, providing access to an innumerable number of texts for our students and professors. Student study location, free computer access

Braniff houses the majority of the University’s academic departments, Braniff Graduate School of liberal arts, the Rome Office.

SB Hall was opened in January of 2016. Our Business school is AACSB accredited (less than 5% have received this accreditation). Business school is named after two alumni (the Gupta's) who donated a 12 million grant for the building

Fun Facts: “SB” is the name of the Guptas’ steel pipe and tubing company. See if you can find the Guptas and others on the “Wall of Fame”!

The Maher Athletic Center is named after Ed Maher, one of the university founders

Athletic facilities include gymnasium, locker rooms, fitness center open to all students, soccer field, baseball field, softball field, tennis courts, and lacrosse field

UD offers 15 intercollegiate sports at the non-scholarship, Division III level of the NCAA

The Church of the Incarnation was designed by the same architect who worked on Rome Campus

Approximately 80% of the undergraduate student body is Catholic.

The Church is open 24 hours and there are over 20 masses offered and around 15 scheduled hours of reconciliation available to students every week.

The Church won an award for the "25-year test of time award" from the Dallas Society of Architects

Also on and around campus stand the Dominican Priory, Holy Trinity Seminary, and Cistercian Abbey; a chapel is also found in the Rome Campus villa

Built in 1985, named after Patrick Haggerty, major donor and supporter of the Art and Science programs

Haggerty Science Center contains Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics departments, classrooms, research and teaching laboratories, and an observatory

Also available to all undergraduates is a Field Ecology course in Costa Rica and an Astronomy course (located in a different place every year), both of which satisfy Core requirements for science.

Posters on each floor are research projects that our students got to present in various conferences.

The first floor has the Office of Personal Career and Development (OPCD) which consists of the Career Services office, the office of the Academic Success Advisor, and the office of the Director of Fellowship Advising, where students are encouraged to seek guidance in career preparation.

OPCD works with students to tailor resumes and cover letters as well as hosts job fairs and brings in recruiters to assist in the networking and professional formation of students.
