Here in the year 2222, we often wonder what Belfast was like 200 years ago. Come and see for yourself in ‘Belfast Before Flood’ - the new living museum based on the forgotten Belfast of 2022. Using authentic early 21st Century technology and language, this experience is guaranteed to be both educational and entertaining for anyone interested in what life was like before the Great Submersion. Using the quaint antique of technology of mobile smartphones, ‘Belfast Before Flood’ provides a location-activated audio walk that shares the stories of how and why Belfast was the way it was in 2022. And more importantly, how it changed in the intervening years leading to our present day in the year 2222. So celebrate 200 years since the era of peak knowledge and the beginning of the end of life as they knew it in 'Belfast Before Flood'. To begin, tap 'Stream Walk'. Once you see the map, pay attention to your location via the bright blue dot - if you can't see it on the map, tap 'Locate Me' or the small arrow button. You can then find the audio tour locations at the 'sound zones' - the pale blue shapes on the map. The circular shape marks the first sound zone. She’s the daughter of a journalist and as a young child was keenly aware of the kidnapping of Associated Press reporter Terry Anderson (1947-2024). Anderson was held hostage in Beirut from 1985-1991 and passed away during the writing of this audio story in April 2024. PARROT FEVER is dedicated to members of the press across the world, recognising the dangers they face - especially native journalists of Gaza and Lebanon, currently under direct attack. On this soundwalk, we'll explore the history and significance of the statues and memorials located throughout Belfast's city hall garden. Each stop on our tour will highlight a different figure and share their story, providing a deeper understanding of the city's rich cultural heritage. We will cover 10 memorials that are around the city hall building. I have created 11 zones to guide your tour, which are: Zone 0: The main gate of Belfast City Hall. Zone 1: Queen Victoria statue. Hi I’m Sam Halleron and welcome to my Echoes walk on the punk movement in Belfast. With this walk I want to take you through the history of the punk movement in Belfast and its evolution from the 1970s to modern day. With each location you’ll get a bit of information on the music, fashion and notable punk figures associated with these locations.

In order to get the best experience and to enjoy all of the available sounds, move slowly around the space to allow your GPS to keep up with your movements. When one of the sounds is activated, pause at the spot to hear the full recording. The sound is loudest in the centre of each circle and some of the recordings intentionally overlap, therefore at some points you may hear more than one recording at a time. Moving slowly towards the centre of each circle and away from the previous circle will ensure that you only hear one sound piece at a time. Beginning at the former site of McGurk's Bar, Never The Same allows the relatives of those killed in the McGurk's Bar Bombing of 1971 to share memories of their loved ones and explore the personal aspects of grief and loss. As you move around the locality, different audio recordings will become available. Fifteen people were killed in the bomb, including two children and many more were injured. At the 50th anniversary of the event, the families are still engaged in a 'Campaign for Truth' to uncover the facts about the bombing. Additional sound recordings will continue to be added over the course of 2021. Two years ago I moved from Liverpool to Belfast, and in that time I have discovered many links between the two cities. This sound walk is your own private tour of Belfast but from a Scouser's perspective as you uncover the intertwined history of both cities.
