YOUR TIME IS NOW

YOUR TIME IS NOW

**HUDDERSFIELD** **STARTS AT THE LAWRENCE BATLEY THEATRE** Welcome to **YOUR TIME IS NOW** Part of the Walk This Play series by ThickSkin, commissioned by Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield is trapped in a time loop. Unknowingly repeating the same day over and over. But time is slowing down, and the town is at risk of being lost forever. Today’s assignment is to reactivate time. Collect the clocks and clues that will help you on your way as Commander X guides you round the streets of Huddersfield. But hurry, you don’t have long! Your mission begins at Lawrence Batley Theatre. Walk This Play is a new series of location-based audio plays by ThickSkin, designed for listeners as they walk. The plays are immersive and immediate, transporting you inside the story. Each is unique to its location and invites you to experience a familiar route from a new perspective. Through narration and original music blended with the sights and sounds around you, Walk This Play takes you on a journey of imagination and discovery. To enjoy the experience, simply download the Walk This Play app, plug in your headphones and press play. **Creative Team** Writer - Misha Duncan-Barry Director - Neil Bettles Composer & Sound Designer - Lee Affen Producer - Max Emmerson Executive Producer - Laura Mallows App Developer - ECHOES **Cast** Commander X - Mina Anwar Harold Wilson/The Lions - Matthew Booth Time/The Goddess - Misha Duncan-Barry For more help or to share your feedback, please email admin@thickskintheatre.co.uk to get in touch with the Walk This Play Team. The pandemic has been a challenging time for the sector. Against the odds, ThickSkin has continued to make work and employ freelance artists through innovative projects. If you can make a donation, no matter how big or small, your donation will help us to keep going. Additional information: Keep your GPS and wifi enabled. Follow the instructions given by the narrator. The route is circular and will start and end at the Lawrence Batley Theatre courtyard. When you start the walk, you will see your current position as a Yellow dot on the map. If the app asks you about location settings, select ‘allowed all the time’ to improve GPS. If the sound disappears, just check on your map to find your route again. The walk will last around 45 minutes (depending on your speed) with some inclines, but no steps. The walk will wait for you and can be enjoyed at your own pace. As this is an audio experience, D/deaf audiences can choose to use the in-app captions. Visually impaired audiences may need a walking companion for safety with crossing roads. Walk This Play experiences are suitable for ages 12+

The walk starts behind the garden centre on Birchencliffe there is a little wood with 2 paths, take whichever you want, this is the same for the rest of the walk so long as you carry on heading in the general direction of the Recreation Ground where this short walk ends. Tip: If the sounds stop try going out and then back into the walk. Enjoy!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!!! This soundwalk is based in Scholes. It has been created during a course set up by the YWSN (Yorkshire Women Sound Network). Without them, I would have got nowhere. Another thanks is to Jo Kennedy who was running the course and to Charlotte Roe who was helping out. This soundwalk is one for people to enjoy. Thank you so much for the websites I have named in the sound descriptions. Thank you for reading till the end of this (if you did). And please enjoy!!!

Chronotope - Marsden Village Walk

Chronotope - Marsden Village Walk

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Welcome to Marsden Jazz Festival’s village-based Chronotope soundwalk! For the best experience use headphones and be sure to tap the small green arrow to download the walk onto your phone before you start, rather than trying to stream it as you go along. Have your battery fully or well charged too, as the walk uses GPS (Global Positioning System) which will use up power. Listen to artists’ performances by walking into a blue zone, each of which contains a different track. The performances will play (on a loop) whilst you stay within a zone, and stop once you exit. Clicking on a zone turns it yellow. A banner will come up and you can click this to see some more information about each track. There is no defined route - just head for whichever zones you want to. As you wander around the village you may well also encounter ‘Easter eggs’— other hidden sounds recorded during the Chronotope sessions! About Chronotope: Music in a Different Time and Place In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the first ever cancellation of Marsden Jazz Festival since its first edition in 1992. With funding from Arts Council England, the festival organisers commissioned five sets of artists to perform in different locations in the inspiring moorland landscape around Marsden and in St Bartholomew’s Church. The performances were filmed and recorded live on location and made available on the Marsden Jazz Festival YouTube channel. Now you can re-experience the Chronotope music and environmental sounds in locations around the centre of Marsden Village in an accessible village centre walk.

There are quite a lot of them spread over the landscape surrounding Marsden, so you probably won't want to do everything in one go. Exploring different areas on different visits will work better!
