Maastricht is a popular destination for tourists, immigrants and international students. It is a city where “local” intertwines with “international” on a daily basis. This phenomenon influences the culinary dimension of Maastricht. According to the www.tripadvisor.com, there are approximately 660 restaurants in Maastricht, and the majority of them serve international cuisine. These are only numbers, but there are real people behind them: immigrants, graduated international students, second and third generations of foreigners. What are their stories? How do they find themselves in the city? And how do they contribute to the culinary scene of Maastricht? In this short guide, we introduce you to the 5 international restaurant’s owners, who want to share their stories and talk about the unique tastes they create. If you are new in town or just checking in for a short weekend trip – you will certainly not want to miss the Friday Market. Let it be an experience with this audio narrative! Julia will be your guide and companion today. She will provide you with a colorful set of interesting information about the market and its stalls, directing you to her favorite ones. She knows the market, its history and some of the vendors quite well by now. So, you are in good hands. As the name indicates, the market takes place on Fridays.
