Part of the Spaces to Speak project, ‘On the Tip of My Tongue’ is cultural futurist Lauren Craig’s creative response to five interviews between Lorna Rose and global majority creatives in Plymouth. Craig was commissioned for the project by Rose and Ella S. Mills, together known as ‘talking on corners’. Craig’s artistic and co-curatorial background includes working with archives and oral histories. Inviting conditions for ‘ethical cultural memory’ and collective intelligence, Craig’s practice offers the thoughtfulness required to work with these five creative women’s voices and experiences. She is dedicated to creating and nourishing networks for contemporary celebration and commemoration. For this commission, talking on corners’ central aim was to balance the five interviewees’ often-emotional stories with Black and Brown creativity and joy. Working across disciplines, Craig created a sonic installation of nine parts that renders, protects and nourishes their creative deposits.
