Award winning sound designer and musicologist Steven M Halliday retells the story of the 1891 shipwreck at Sandgate where the full rigged Benvenue ran aground.
Using 3D sound design, narration and music the 25 minute sound walk from Folkestone Harbour to Sandgate retells the dramatic events.
Directions:
The sound walk is at its most dramatic when taken at sunset on a wintry day.

Suggested Walk:
Start at the Folkestone Harbour Signal Box (CT20 1QH) walk through the old train station and turn right onto the beach path heading towards Sandgate.
Follow the coastal path (2.2km, 1.4 miles) all the way to the Metropole steps or continue onto Sandgate (3.2km, 2 miles) where refreshments and public transport are available to return you back to Folkestone. (Buses 10/16/102)
