Description: Going to an art museum for me has always been much more than just going and looking at art. Elements such as the ambience of the world around you shape how you feel when you see the work. My goal for these echoes is to capture my feelings of memorable art pieces, along with creating the audible ambience that I experienced when I was there. I also tried to incorporate a feeling that the audio was recorded on cassette, somewhat as I have experienced via guided tours of museums.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace

Music sampled: The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist

Excerpt: "Standing in front of me was the most beautiful statue I had never heard of. The plaque read, 'Winged Victory of Samothrace. Goddess Nike's wings spoke to me of freedom. They sparked a desire, a desire for me to embody the goddess herself."

The Potato Eaters

Music Sampled: Great Plateau - Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild ost - Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, and Hajime Wakai

Excerpt: "When I first entered this museum, I couldn't believe that these potato eaters were painted by Vincent Van Gogh. It just seemed too bleak and desolate. But the more I stared at it, the more the muted tones began to shine, revealing a pure sense of honesty within the subjects."

Skeletons

Music sampled: Jason and the Argonauts ost - Bernard Herrmann

Excerpt: "I've come here many times and each time I always admire the little skeletons dancing outside the windows. Sometimes I forget they were made and placed there. Or maybe I choose to forget, favouring a world of wonder instead."

Die Koralle - A Diplomatic Intervention

Die Koralle - A Diplomatic Intervention

At the end of March 1967, a group of scientists from the Museum of Natural History in East Berlin boarded a ship in Rostock and travelled towards Cuba. 70 kilometres east of Havana, on a coast strip called Arroyo Bermejo, they worked towards the realisation of an ambitious project: corals, fish and other organisms were to be collected, transferred to East Berlin and worked into a reconstruction of a Cuban coral reef that would be integrated to the permanent exhibition of the Natural History Museum. This imaginary sound walk traces from different perspectives this coral’s trip to Berlin, exploring 50 years of a never-ending journey.

This is the midterm assignment for the course FILM 1001 - Making Media My project is about my experiences living in three separate countries: Romania, Turkey and Canada. Twillingate Sound Waves

Twillingate Sound Waves

The people, land and seascape of Twillingate are inextricably entwined. The challenges of life in remote, rural and coastal contexts depend upon close community connections. Stories and histories from such communities are at once unique to the community and at the same time highlight the universal truths of how we work together to survive, and find joy. Land and seascapes call to our imaginations through their wildness. We continue to be inspired by stories of the people living in these wonderfully wild places at the edge of the sea. Come listen to the sounds waves of Twillingate

O Roteiro Linschoten

O Roteiro Linschoten

Angra do Heroísmo
