Hello fellow traveler! This walk is based on a Russian folktale called "Swan-Geese" or "Gusi-Lebedi." Masha's younger brother, Vanya, is taken by these magical birds who work for "Baba Yaga," or the witch living in the woods. It is up to you, Masha, to overcome obstacles and rescue your brother. Our walk combines mindfulness practices with folklore to create a meditative yet culture-infused experience.

Masha's House

Welcome to the journey of Masha and her brother, Vanya! Please start at the main entrance to Hutchinson Hall, which is Masha's home. Follow Masha's journey as she faces challenges and overcomes them with the mystical powers of mindfulness! Be wary of Baba Yaga and her Swan-Geese!

Masha runs into a traditional outdoor oven in the woods. The oven tells her where she must go next and offers her wisdom!

Masha seeks guidance from the apple tree who shares a way to rejuvenate her senses for the challenges ahead.

Milkey Way Creek "Kiselniy Ruchei"

Masha reaches what looks like a fountain by Founders Hall but is really a hidden creek made of jelly and milk. The creek offers you its wisdom and helps you catch your breath, suggesting a snack at Paccar Hall.

Welcome to the rest stop. It is vital to fuel your body, so Masha decided to get something from the magical cottage kitchen called "Orin's Place".

The chant to enter Baba Yaga's Cabin!

Masha finally sees the witch's cabin. You must stand on the small white circle with a dot in the center and chant "Cabin, cabin- turn your back to the forest and your front to me". Then you may proceed to cross NE Chelan Ln.

Baba Yaga's Cabin on Chicken Legs

You, Masha, have entered Baba Yaga's cabin! You see your brother playing with pinecones on the floor. The cabin may look like large bike lockers, but the witch's cabin camouflages itself from the public. A mouse helps you out in your rescue mission.

Celestial Cherry Blossom

While it is no longer blooming, the cherry blossom holds tremendous power which it disperses onto you while hiding you in its branches from the evil Swan-Geese.

All-Seeing Eye Tree

You and your brother continue your treacherous journey from Baba Yaga's Swan-Geese and find an old, wise tree calling you to shelter in its shade. You will see the eye pattern on its bark, and it is right by the "Art Building" sign on the left side of the grandiose Quad steps.

Column-Stone of Blessings

After running with her brother up the steps past the All-seeing Eye tree, you both spot a mystical stone in the Art building courtyard! It offers you refuge and a moment of spiritual reflection.

Keep running, Masha! The Swan-Geese are right behind you! Keep running forward along this road filled with moving, metal chariots.

You did it, Masha! You have saved your brother, Vanya, from the claws of Baba Yaga and her Swan-Geese! You can rest now as you hear your parents' carriage approaching the house with gifts for both of you.
