Flexagon - Fort Saumarez: MP2

This is a preview of the first single from my new album for those based in Guernsey. You can hear it by heading to the location it is based on, Fort Saumerez above L'Eree headland. Start by heading down towards the slipway that leads to Lihou causeway, then head on the path across the headland. There's a field recording at the start of the track of me walking across the beach first, before heading back up onto the path. I leave it to you which you choose. Turn right and head up the hill and then explore the tunnels, bunkers and trenches at the top of under the tower. Or ignore all this and just stay within the blue area showing on the app's map.

Fort Saumarez is a granite Martello Tower topped by a four-storey concrete WWII German observation point. Steeped in history, it looms ominously over the northern tip of L'Erée headland and, like the other island locations on the album, is off limits to the public. Flexagon uses atmospheric site recordings in this hypnotic track to lead the listener up from the shingle beach, through long-abandoned German trenches, to the shadow of the tower itself."
