Listening Lines is a free location-based sound experience set within Dawber Garden, Lincoln's historic walled garden.
Using headphones and a smartphone, you're invited to explore the garden through voices, memories, music and sound. As you move through the space, different audio layers appear, overlap and change, creating a unique journey for every listener.
The work brings together hidden LGBTQ+ histories from Lincolnshire alongside contemporary stories gathered from local communities.
Some voices come from archives, others from people living and shaping the city today. Together they speak of identity, friendship, nightlife, belonging, resilience and joy.
There is no set route and no fixed beginning or end. Take your time, wander freely and listen closely. The garden becomes a place where past and present meet through sound.
Created by Urban Projections & CJ Mirra.
Commissioned by Threshold Studios as part of the Reimagining Lincolnshire and Lincoln Connected programmes, made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund and funding from the Be Lincoln Town Deal Fund, with additional support from Arts Council England, and developed in partnership with the University of Lincoln.
