_In the Window, Underwater_ is a sound walk in the city of New Rochelle, NY. The piece explores urban renewal and economic change through interviews, sound design, and music. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure audio podcast where your physical location in the city changes what you hear. While there are a lot of historical accounts presented in this work, it is not a documentary and is not meant to be educational. Also, just because it is meant to be experienced in downtown New Rochelle, it is not a guide to the city. In fact, many of the accounts take place in other locations. You are the guide in your own experience and your navigation will determine what you hear. A Soundwalk from the main access trail to Fisherman's trail area in Caumsette State Park

In the 1970, the South Bronx was abandoned by city government, nearly a half-million people were displaced as their close-knit, multi-ethnic neighborhood burned to the ground. While insidious government policies caused the devastation, Black and Puerto Rican residents bore the blame. These are audio excerpts from the film documentary "Decade of Fire" Bronx-born Vivian Vázquez Irizarry exposes the truth about the borough’s untold history and reveals how her community chose to resist, remain, and rebuild. Also here about the South Bronx's Hip-hop roots. Its foundations were being laid in the 1970s, brick by brick, by DJs in the South Bronx, sometimes even in burnt out or deteriorating buildings. These pioneers invented sampling (isolating one sound and reusing it in another song) and hip-hop's other key elements through trial and error, mostly by fooling around with records at home. DJ Kool Herc, a.k.a. Clive Campbell, laid the first building block of hip-hop down in 1973. That was when he reportedly hosted a party in his building at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue with a sound system, or sound equipment used to DJ a party. Herc's sound system was a guitar amp and two turntables.

How are our earliest memories constructed and what role do images play in developing a sense of our early past? This sound-walk through Queens’ Alley Pond Park emerged out of a conversation with my father that a occurred in response to newly viewing a box of his grandparents’ slides that I recently found and scanned. Made up largely of early images of my father that he had not seen for at least fifty years, if at all, this walk documents the process of seeing the images anew - and proves an interesting site of audiovisual exploration - drawing connections and distinctions between place, family memory, image, archive, and interpretation.

Astoria Park is a very big park that has several trails and playgrounds. There are two bridges that are right above the park, which are Robert F. Kennedy Bridge and Hell Gate Bridge. The park is also right next to the East River. People do a lot of things in the park, such as jogging, walking themselves and dogs, biking, playing tennis, skateboarding and so on. So, one can easily find peace and energy at this park. I hope to express my feelings toward this park through the sound walk project
