LIBRARY WOODS SOUND GARDEN

room 1 ECHOES

Listen to composer JG Everest's site-specific spatial symphony, the "Library Woods Sound Garden", in two movements, composed spatially for the Library Woods at the Madeline Island Public Library in May 2023, where it premiered over Memorial Day Weekend of that year. The first movement is entitled "LaPointed" (15 min) and the second movement is "M.Bells" (25 min). The Library Woods Sound Garden features soprano and baritone saxophones played by Free Range Orchestra member Matty Harris. Towards the end of the second movement, it also features the voices and piano playing of the Library's afterschool program students (and staff) from May 2023. Can you recognize any of the voices you hear? Can you hear them howl like wolves at the bus stop?
