During the lockdown Dave and Mauveen Lee used to walk up to the tunnel which carries Spitalbrook underneath the A10 and sing songs they had learned from the church around the world. The tunnel is full of graffiti - the news was bad as the first wave of Covid raged. But the acoustics in the tunnel were amazing! A selection of the songs has been placed in a circuit in Barclay Park and up to the tunnel across the fields. If you want your own copy of the songs there are a whole CD of them which Dave and Mauveen are using as a fundraiser for the roof of St Cuthberts church in Rye Park. You can track them down on Facebook. Enjoy the tunnel songs of the lockdown. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

This is a showcase of a band of brothers (real brothers) who haven't performed for many years but have actually played in Hoddesdon at John Warner school hall and also in the Robert Barclay School hall. One of the brothers John is a longtime resident in Rye Park. The brothers discovering that the first rock and roll performers were influenced by American black gospel singers and guitarists in the middle years of the 20th century - promoted this music by playing it in a way that can be described as gospel skiffle - acoustic music you can dance to. This showcase from their 2 albums is set up as an audio showcase to show the potential for audio installations using echoes XYZ to showcase local musical talent. Hopefully we can feature more local musicians going forward. But for now enjoy the Woebegone Brothers; the albums will be put on Bandcamp if you would like to download them. There are even cassettes if you still have a player!

A circular walk of just under ¾mile, starting at the Clock Tower. Provided by the Friends of Lowewood House. The walk looks at some of Hoddesdon’s buildings through the centuries and gives glimpses of some of the people who lived and worked in them. This walk does not include information on Hoddesdon’s historic town centre inns or the brewery as they are covered in the Hoddesdon Inns walk.

This circular walk of just under 1 mile starts in the garden at the rear of Lowewood Museum (there are car parks nearby at The Spotlight and to the south of Elsie House). Please be aware of traffic and take care when crossing roads. The walk looks at the homes of two of Hoddesdon’s prominent families, the Rawdons and the Warners, as well as some of the other people and places of interest in the area.
