Ephemerality - Jamie Beckwith (DES304)

The word ‘ephemeral’ means to last for a very short time. Something that is momentary. This term is usually reserved for the fallen leaves in autumn or a chalk drawing on the ground. However when we think of time, time defines our existence. We are born, we live, we die.

Ephemeral can also be defined as a moment. A brief period of time on the top of a mountain, in the sea or on your balcony. A moment that seems so mundane yet can quickly become another lost memory.

As you experience this trail, take a breath. Close your eyes and allow yourself to fully immerse. Listen to the sound of the traffic, the flow of the water and the sound of the flames. As in an instant, these too will become a memory. Become ephemeral.
