From January to July 2021, Tricky Hat worked with people living in Partick East and Kelvindale to gather their tales and memories of the area and transform this into an audio journey. Round Our Place is an exploration of places filled with voices, visions, dreams and memories. We invite you to plug in your headphones and lose yourself in these sounds and stories as you follow the route. Pick up a free map from The Alchemy Experiment,157 Byres Road. Round Our Place 2023 is a Sound Walk created by Tricky Hat, in collaboration with groups and individuals who live and work in the North West area of Glasgow. From November 2023 to August 2023 we worked on this phase of Round Our Place as part of Glasgow Life: Artists in Communities and 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. Collected stories of love, challenges and triumphs, favourite places, water and communities standing up for what they believe in. Roxburghe street walk

This edifice is a cultural landmark in Glasgow. Located in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Scotland’s most beloved and iconic institutions. Opened in 1901, the museum is housed in a stunning red sandstone building designed in the Spanish Baroque style, with grand spires and an imposing façade that mirrors the city’s industrial-era confidence and architectural grandeur. Stunning architecture and a historic, family-friendly space. Beautiful! Wonderful!

A snapshot of the West End of Glasgow in lockdown - how does it compare to when you are listening to this walk?

This 40-minute soundwalk starts in St Mungo Square, outside the [University of Glasgow Advanced Research Centre Building](https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/arc/) ([11 Chapel Ln, Glasgow G11 6EW](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Zba8xSSo9zZwdwop9)). The walking route is a 2-mile loop mapped to established paths around Kelvingrove Park, returning to St Mungo Square. __About the soundwalk:__ Commissioned by [Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre](https://www.taigh-chearsabhagh.org/), this soundwalk explores the traditions and ecology of Uist’s machair. A Gaelic word meaning fertile, low-lying grassy plain, machair is one of Europe's rarest yet most species-rich habitats; only occurring on the exposed west-facing shores of Scotland and Ireland, 70% of which is found on Uist. Generations of low-intensity farming have shaped this unique landscape and encouraged wildlife over millennia.
