The Conscience Fairy & The Boggart

The Conscience Fairy & The Boggart

https://forms.gle/sJhxihwR2ApRzaMn6 (Click on above Hyperlink or copy and paste into your browser to download competition entry form) Welcome to the Geolocational walk from Ykids and Bootle Children's Literacy Festival 2023 in partnership with Write Explorers. Today, we need your help to find the Conscience fairy who has been kidnapped by a Boggart. Are you ready to embark on this magical adventure? As we begin our walk, keep your eyes peeled for fairy doors hidden throughout the area. These doors are the gateways to the fairy world and may hold clues to the whereabouts of the Conscience fairy. Search carefully for these doors for they are hidden well, so look high and low. The doors will be found somewhere within each circled location on your walk. As we walk, we will also be listening to poetry about mythical creatures such as hobs, dragons, and mermaids. These creatures may also have information about the Boggart and the Conscience fairy. But be careful, the Boggart is a mischievous creature who loves to play tricks. Keep your wits about you and don't let the Boggart lead you astray. As we continue our walk, we will introduce you to many other mythical creatures such as sirens, gnomes, and pixies. These creatures may also have information about the Boggart and the Conscience fairy. Remember, the Conscience fairy is counting on us to rescue her. Let's work together to find her and bring her back to safety. Are you ready to begin our Geolocational walk and help save the Conscience fairy? Let's go!

Picton Play Soundwalk

Picton Play Soundwalk

Inspired by Stories, Mystery and Love, three short stories by Sophie Herxheimer, Hanan Issa, and Joelle Taylor, we invited community groups to respond to their neighbourhood and create an interactive sound walk, produced by sound artist and composer Sara Wolff. Working with Asylum Link, Capeesh and Damien John Kelly House, artists Dan Astles, Phoebe McSweeney and PJ Smith worked closely with their groups to think about moments and memories when they felt like Wavertree and Picton became their home, how they are guided by their favourite places and the times they felt loved living in the neighbourhood. After collecting voicenotes and recorded poems, Sara mapped the memories across the Picton and Wavertree neighbourhood on Echoes, a mobile application for immersive audio for specific locations. How to listen to the Soundwalk - Soundwalks are best experienced using a handheld device. - Make sure your Location Services are switched on, and that the Echoes app has permissions to use them. - Wear headphones. If they have a noise cancellation feature, make sure to turn this off – both for your safety and also so you can hear some of the sounds of the environment as you walk. - Please be aware of your surroundings, and take care when crossing roads. - Children must be supervised by an adult at all times - Please be kind and aware of people and their right to privacy when using the soundwalk, as locations are in public spaces. - Transcriptions are available - click on each Echo to view - Take as much time as you need!
