Fortitude Valley Brunswick To Wickham Luke Readdy (Sensing Environments)

Everyone is an island. everyone is seeking for love. In Fortitude Valley, you can see people laugh, cry, dance, fight on the street, all the emotions are enlarged here and made the life so vivid. I like wondering on streets here, watching people and feel the smile of alcohol and love. So I created four pieces of music work to show my feeling about this place, about love and some sadness. I want to especially thank my friend Chris who helped me made the vocal record of ' floating mind' with his precious memories of his old love, and also the inspiration from Luky. Hope you enjoy.

Abstract land scans and field recordings that make the listener focus on the feeling both physical and emotional of the features of nature. The use of quite abstract sounds and images from nature should create a meditative and thought-provoking state for the audience. The experience should give them the time and space to take a break from the city and reconnect with nature while thinking about their relationship with nature and how they could enhance and preserve it within their city lifestyle.

A sonic exploration of Things heard not seen. Amongst the layers of Brisbane city’s soundscape is a transmission lost amongst the noise. Whilst we wander or commute from A to B we are unaware of the many frequencies that radiate from our devices, these frequencies known as electromagnetic fields are with us for as long as electricity flows through our devices. ‘Urban waves’ is a short timeline through multiple layers that sit between us and the earths core.

This walk is meant to showcase different community places in Herston/Windsor that have historical meaning behind them and that were affected by floods in various years and discuss how that has affected them.

Listen to a submariner soundscape while walking the Submariner Heritage Trail. Setting the scene where the US Navy Refit and Repair Unit was based at Teneriffe and 79 Submarines travelled up the Brisbane River.
