The island of Ireland has been subject to many clima(c)tic events over the centuries and the idea of the storm has particular resonance for our post-pandemic epoch. The basis for this work comes from binaural recordings made during the aftermath of Storm Brendan on the Killruddery estate in County Wicklow. Killruddery has been the home of the Brabazons since 1618.
The text you hear comes from a poem by Sir Thomas Wyatt (1536) after witnessing the beheading of Anne Boleyn, the reverberations of which act thundered throughout the realm. Now, as we consider a very different world unfolding in the future, the quiet of Ramsfort Woods offers us a space in which to consider the echoes of what came before and what is still to come…
