Tracks 2, 3, 5 & 6 feature recordings made during a table-read at ‘Back-to-back: perspectives on artists’ writing and publishing’ at Cas-co, Leuven. Track 3 features underwater recordings of the Canal de Bruxelles. Part II of a Sonic Re-walk through an old industrial railway area in transformation. Recordings articulate interactions between environment, landscape and human and non human territorial demarcation over a longer period of time. Een wandeling doorheen een buurt in volle sociale en economische ontwikkeling. Er was voor ieder wat wils, in Anneessens vond men alles: instrumentenbouwers, hotels, Chez Poepke en drukkerijen; meubelwinkels, kolenverkopers, begrafenisondernemers en papegaaien op de Anderlechtsesteenweg. Léopold Vereecken connait les Marolles comme sa poche. Il y a travaillé toute sa vie, y a animé de nombreux projets de quartiers journalistiques, radiophoniques & sociaux. Nous l'avons suivi lors de ses déambulations dans les Marolles et avons découvert son trésor d'histoires, qui mises bout à bout forment une histoire du quartier. Son goût pour l'histoire et sa capacité à la faire vivre dans un langage personnel, drôle et savant, vous font découvrir ce quartier sous un angle inédit.

[fr] (english below) Bonjour et bienvenue. Vous allez écouter une balade sonore dont l’idée principale est de voir de quelle manière deux paysages cohabitent. Un paysage vocal entendu au casque, et celui qui nous entoure, entendu au travers du casque. Comment l'un nourrit l'écoute de l'autre et vice-versa ? De ce fait, il est vivement conseillé de désactiver le mode ‘noise cancelling’ (réduction du bruit) de votre casque s’il est équipé de ce système. Pour gagner le point de départ, partir de la Porte de Hal, traverser la rue qui sépare en deux le parc, puis remonter le mail jalonné de platanes, longer le bac à sable puis le terrain de football jusqu'à arriver dans l'aire de jeu pour enfants où se trouve un grand château en bois. Une fois arrivé·e à ce dernier, je vous invite à rejoindre le petit couloir qui se trouve sur sa gauche et dans lequel vous trouverez un petit banc sur lequel vous asseoir. Ce banc fait face à un autre banc situé à l'extérieur. Vous pouvez dès lors commencer l'écoute. Une fois la première piste audio écoutée, vous descendrez le parc jusqu'à traverser de nouveau la route pour rejoindre l'autre partie du parc, sur son côté droit. Pour chaque piste, vous pouvez consulter un petit texte de présentation afférent en cliquant sur le lien de la piste. Il vous indiquera à chaque fois la prochaine station à rejoindre. You are about to listen to a sound walk whose main idea is to see how two landscapes cohabit. A vocal landscape heard on headphones, and the one that surrounds us, heard through headphones. How does one feed the listening of the other and vice versa? I therefore strongly advise you to deactivate the 'noise cancelling' mode on your headphones - if they have this option. To reach the starting point, start at the Porte de Hal, cross the street that separates the park into two parts, then walk up the plane tree lined mall, past the sandpit and then the football pitch until you arrive at the children's play area where you will find a large wooden castle. Once you have reached the wooden castle, I invite you to enter the small corridor on the left, where you will find a small bench to sit on. This bench faces another bench outside. You can now start listening. Once you have listened to the first audio track, you will walk down the park until you cross the road again to join the other part of the park, on its right side. For each track, you can read a short presentation text by clicking on the link of the track. Each time it will indicate the next station to come. I wish you a nice listening experience.
