You will hear Megan Williams talk about some of the amazing artwork we have on the campus. Megan is a curator and writer with over fifteen years of experience in programming and management roles across the university art museum sector. This walk is designed to give you information of each art, recommend downloading the walk for a better optimal experience. Embark on an exhilarating journey into the vibrant world of plants. Their World invites you to experience the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) campus through a new sensory lens—one grounded in deep listening, curiosity, and care. As you walk, you’ll be immersed in an intricate soundscape composed of field recordings gathered through the roots of trees. These recordings capture the hidden melodies that resonate beneath our feet and all around us—the subtle murmur of roots sucking up water, rustle of leaves, the pulse of insects, the calls of birds, and rain drops playing the trees like drums. This work offers a glimpse into a world not shaped by human hands but inhabited by countless beings whose lives unfold in parallel to our own. It asks you to slow down, to tune in, and to listen differently—not for us, but for them. Their World is both an artwork and an act of reciprocity. It reflects the artist’s deep love for the natural world and the belief that attentive, respectful listening can shift how we relate to place. In walking this path, you’re invited to let go of expectation and open yourself to the vitality, complexity, and beauty of the more-than-human world that surrounds us—always speaking, if we choose to hear it.

Experience a walk that allows you to tune in, hear and take a moment to just breathe. A walk that helps you discover sounds you may have overlooked, sounds you never really bat an eye to or gave much attention to before. Sounds that have always been there, it just takes a helping hand to 'see'.

This walk is a quiet meeting point between two places I know well: Dilkusha, a rainforest property near Maleny where my grandfather lives, and the grounds of UniSC, where I study and think and walk every day. Using sound, story, and memory, I’ve brought fragments of Dilkusha into the spaces of the university. Footsteps through puddles, the call of the Lewin’s honeyeater, water trickling over stone—each stop along the path carries a small part of the land my grandfather has tended for decades. This is an attempt to listen more deeply. To walk slower. To consider the stories rooted in the ground beneath us—both those we inherit and those we’re still learning how to hear. Put on your headphones, and take your time.
